Biography
Professor M. Kabir Hassan is Hibernia Professor of Economics and Finance and holder of the Moffett Chair in World Resource Prices and Economic Development at the University of New Orleans. His research spans Islamic finance, development economics, banking and financial markets, and he has published hundreds of refereed articles and edited or authored dozens of books and textbooks. He has advised and consulted for institutions including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the African Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and several central banks, and has supervised more than ninety doctoral dissertations. His honours include the Islamic Development Bank Prize in Islamic Banking and Finance (2016) and a University of New Orleans lifetime achievement award for research (2019).
