Biography

Junaid Kamal Ahmad is Vice President of Operations at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group. He leads MIGA's operations teams and its partnerships with financial institutions, private investors and development actors to mobilize private finance for projects in emerging markets and developing economies. A Bangladeshi national, he joined the World Bank in 1991 as a Young Professional and has since served as Country Director for India, first Senior Director of the Water Global Practice, Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the World Bank Group President, with assignments across Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, and South Asia. He holds a PhD in Applied Economics from Stanford, an MPA from Harvard and a BA from Brown.
